Product Dimensions: 21 x 12 x 10 inches. Item model number: 45w LED Grow Light Panel. Best Sellers Rank: #7,260 in Patio, Lawn & Garden (See Top 100 in Patio, Lawn & Garden) #167 in Indoor Gardening & Hydroponics. This is not a paid review. This is just my initial impression so far after receiving the product. I will update again with photos once I have grown some veggies with it. I bought this 45W LED panel because I've had good experience in the past using the Aerogarden Extra LED units which have a 30W LED panel.
I already knew the full spectrum of Aerogarden LED panels will give good growing results. I like the fact the light color is white, it's more attractive to the eyes compared those deep red/pink colored LED panels which I do not recommend if you don't want law enforcement knocking or busting through your door. The panel is light and easy to hang from the ceiling. I had to solder in new capacitors manually. With this 45W panel, the power supply is an external 24volts adapter so it should be easier to replace, hopefully a replacement won't be too costly when the time come.Great general purpose plant light. I have several of these panels and use them for peppers and other plants. Power draw is accurate (44W actual draw on mine), and spectrum is suitable for greens as well as fruiting plants like peppers and flowers. One panel is sufficient for several small plants grouped together, or one medium sized plant. Large plants would require a couple of these panels for best growth.
Very good choice for the casual indoor gardener. Not a commercial scale panel. This grow light pnale is perfect for a countertop plant setup.
We use it for sweet basil herbs, has really helped promote a lot of leaf growth. Legs are adjustable and comes with a hanging kit for when your plants grow beyond let height. Get a plug w/ timer (or splurge on a smart plug) and setup a daily schedule, works like a charm.
Nice lamp, not too large. Nice easy set up with quality lighting for seed through flower.
Nothing fancy here and assembly is easy. It just works, although I'd hoped it would be a bit less flimsy. Bear in mind that it has no power controls (I set mine up on an external timer), making it a bear to use without some kind of automation. You can't adjust the mix of the lights (some are white, some blue, some red), but that wasn't an issue for me. It did an amazing job with a wide variety of spices.
I would have given this light panel five stars but it has no built-in switch and because it is pretty expensive. I had to plug it into an adapter with a switch. It was easy to assemble and there is an option to hang it, which is nice. I also like that there is a variety of LED lights, some for growth, some for bigger yields, and some to trigger flowers (I don't need this at present but will be useful for flowering plants).
I also noticed that my herbs have become greener, the leaves bigger. So it must be working. I don't know if I'd pay for this light out of pocket but I'm glad Vine offered it.I have 4 of these, and all are great. In all I've had these things production for over a year and 1/2. As there are some plants that don't grow very well grown in pods submerged in water (such as Cilantro which was a repeated fail for me) I plant those stubborn guys in potting soil and grow them under this panel.
This LED panel sized to fit over a standard flat so it's also great for seed starting. The legs are a bit wobbly, but not too bad if you are reasonably careful not to bump it plus there's an option to hang the unit with provided hardware. I'm currently using it standing and for plants that need additional height then the legs can extend I just place something under the legs to lift it a bit higher.I use an inexpensive multi-plug timer extension cord to set up a couple of these panels for seed starting which works great and I can use the timer for other things like clip on lights, etc. Since it's not dedicated and built into one product. Comparing this product to LED Panel lights offered by other manufacturers, I know I'm getting a good product from a reputable company which I know from personal experience has a very polite and helpful customer service department. This basic LED light panel is well priced for exactly what it is - it has very useful dimensions, and for the most part, like other grow light panels mostly intended to hang from the ceiling, but has, what I see as a bonus feature of providing'legs' which personally find useful. Not bad for the price, plants love it. My indoor garden loves this. I plan on getting a second one for more levels of light.... I always have fresh salad ingredients with my indoor garden.
A little pricey, but, excellent lights. The legs are a bit flimsy, so hubby just hung it on a pulley system so I can lower and raise anytime.
Really wish it has a timer on it, so I just hooked one up to it. A great way to start seeds or keep fresh herbs on hand year round. We like to grow herbs all year and other grow lights either take too much power, burn out too quickly or are cheap junk.
The AeroGarden LED Grow light panel is a well-made grow light that can be used in a variety of ways. It's simple to use as well. I've used it for starting seeds, maintaining plants throughout the growing cycle and is easily adjustable as your crop increases in size. I use mine with a programmable timer and moisture sensor. Please read the full review for details.
First, the light definitely works to extend the light hours even when used on plants in a windowsill. The shorter daylight hours would not permit the growth I've seen (with spinach and beets for leaves only) at this same location that I've used before at the same time of year. The panel is the correct size to easily fit over a standard (l x w) tray with regular or deep trays.
I use the tilting top to tilt it out of the way to water the front and back. As a whole I can easily remove the whole light fixture as well for cuttings, etc. What I definitely do not like is that there is no power switch. So I'm fairly tired over every morning and evening plugging it in and then turning it off. I'm planning on replacing it with a network controlled power source that I can manage with my wink, but a digital or old fashioned analog timer power outlet would typically do the trick as well.
The tilted top is fairly reflective and when placed in a window will also help to direct non direct sunlight onto the plants. Unit has some flexibility--you can move it wherever you like, tilt the light for optimum coverage.
This unit has some flexibility--you can move it wherever you like, tilt the light for optimum coverage. I like that I can grow plants of all sorts in any room I want.I can keep the unit out of the way and not worry about windows and lighting. The uprights are flimsy, however. You will want to keep the unit out of the reach of young children.
It does not come with a pan as pictured--I wish it did so it would be easier to move plants and to water. I think the price is too high for what you actually get. Basic grow light, and it works very well.If you only care about the function, a simple grow light, then this is one to put on your list. If you want the light to have a rock-solid sturdy frame, and multiple functions on/off switch, timer, etc. , then you don't want this one. For my purposes (to grow succulents in a room without enough sunlight), this is great.
I plan on building a sturdier and better-looking frame & supports, but for now, it serves its purpose well. Nice product; could've used an on/off switch. This is a good grow light; energy efficient, sturdy, large enough to cover a standard flat of seedlings.
We've used it to grow herbs and spices oregano, basil, etc. , and it's worked well. Not sure if it would work for larger/taller items, although you could always extend the height with some sort of platforms beneath the legs.
The panel has legs that can be adjusted from roughly 10'-16'. That's not a deal killer, as we have it hooked up with a timer, but it would be nice to be able to turn it on or off without having to unplug it. For a unit that is priced where this product is, a simple switch doesn't seem to be too much to ask for. With more experience, I'll return to provide an update. Overall, we're happy with this grow light panel.
AeroGarden 45 watt LED Grow Light PanelThis is a fantastic LED panel. It has a good spectrum and quality of light for growing seedlings and compact leafy greens. I really like the size of it as it is just right for standard sized trays. It is not too big and bulky nor to small. The panel produces a nice and even spread of light with no hot spots.
It is also cool running so you don't have to worry about burning your plants. LED's are proven now to grow things well. I have been using them for starting seedlings as well as on my saltwater reef tank for almost 10 years. The technology is advancing and you can grow just about anything and have a customized light spectrum to boost growth. The color of the light is pleasant to work around.
It doesn't cause eye strain. I like both the stand and hanging kit that come with the light panel.
Both are well designed and easy to use. I would certainly recommend this to any non-LED aerogardener's who want to upgrade to the latest while saving on energy and causing less heat generation.
This is also a great stand alone kit that just about anyone can use for indoor gardening. We have a 10,000sf green house for commercial lettuce and family vegetable production, and it is in constant rotation year round. This start garden is especially nice for doing quick starts indoor in a compact space during extremely hot or cold weather. No special tools or installation required, and has a small footprint for a lot of starts.
It would also be wonderful for a convenient countertop kitchen garden. Love that the lights rotate for different levels of exposure. Works well for my purpose but wish there was a timer built in. I grow both a square foot garden (for vegetables, fruits and especially herbs) outside and use my standard Aerogarden units to grow herbs inside during the winter months when my outside plants go into hibernation.Because of our hot climate, I have two short growing seasons: spring and fall. I'm easily able to get starts at our garden center in spring but at fall, the shops carry pumpkins and Christmas trees rather than fresh starts. I needed something that would allow me to grow my own plant starts inside so they would be ready to plant when the temperature outside was something less than hot, hot, hot here in Texas we say our seasons are Hot, Really Hot, Still Hot and Christmas. This grow light panel works great for my needs. I can choose my own varieties (even for spring when the shops may not carry just what I want), get them started inside from seed, and then finally transplant them outside. The only problem for me with the unit is that it doesn't have a timer to turn the light off as the standard Aerogardens do. I decided to mimic the sunlight for early fall in our area and give the plants about sixteen hours on and 8 hours off. That gives the plants a chance to rest just like they would in nature. If the unit had included a timer, I would consider it five star for my use. Thank you, AeroGarden, for getting on AMAZON where I can order to my heart's content.
I have been thinking of growing herbs for a long time but haven't found the right way to do this. I live in an apartment with sliding glass doors to the balcony. I have even thought of having a garden on my balcony. However, I decided to stick to just herbs.
I live in a retirement village where we do have an actual huge garden with vegetables and/or flowers but I'm too old to play in the dirt. So, this AeroGarden Grow Light Panel is the answer to my problem/prayer. I have LED lights in my house and I know they're supposed to burn for 30,000 + hours which is a long, long time. Here are other things I like about this Panel; it's pretty long (21' by 9' wide) with a good sized growing area (which is about 21.5 by 10); as your plants grow you can move the light up from about 10 to 16 inches; the light panel rotates, I'd guess, 360 degrees;should be left on 15 hours per day but since it has no ON/OFF switch (which is my only negative), I'll leave it on all the time. Since the item is not exactly'cheap', a switch should have been added.....
Couldn't cost that much, I wouldn't think. But, I like sooooooo much about it that I won't linger on one negative.
Can't wait for the Cilantro to grow! Works great, but stand is definitely flimsy/plastic... So for the high cost, may be a bit overpriced!Okay, I wanted to LOVE this and it does work pretty darn well both as a stand and you can hang it. I did take off a star because honestly it's plasticy and the stand isn't very sturdy; I really expected metal and sturdy based on the price!!! However, it's awesome otherwise... Very energy saving, works great on my plants, a good height for new seedlings/plants; and it comes with all you need to hang it as your plants get super tall too! It fits all seed trays perfectly, in case you are wondering. It's really made for growing seeds indoors, which I do every year. The drawback is that if you do more than one tray, like I do, it's quite cost prohibitive compared to the cheap shop lights. It's obviously much more user friendly and you don't have to worry about the bulbs breaking like the fluorescent ones. I would say it would have been worth it if the stand was sturdy and better quality. A really great item to have for indoor plants and herbs. It's nice that you can put whatever potted plant that you want underneath the lighting. The lighting works great and is easy to control the angle of the lighting. The only drawback was that I didn't see a power switch, so either you leave it permanently on, or pull the plug. Its super easy to put together.
Its super easy to put together, just snap the legs in and attach the power cord. Im very happy with the size, and like that the height can easily be adjusted by expanding the legs as seedlings grow. The unit is much lighter than I expected, which is a good thing.
Ill be able to move it around as needed. What dont I like about it? Theres no power switch, it has to be unplugged every time I want to turn it off. It would be much more user friendly with a switch either on the unit or on the cord.
Ive got it on top of my fridge, so I can grow kitchen herbs all year long. Big, Wide, Powerful Grow Light SetWith No Freeking On/Off Switch. Ive never owned a grow light before, and this one is big and easy to put to use. Now, does it really help my plants to grow? I think the answer is yes.
The regular plants seem to be the same, definitely not pekid or scrawny, but I just cant tell if theyve shot up/out under this light. But, the moss/lichen that are on the dirt in their pots have just gone nuts in the last week or so, bigger and more colorful. So, at least one species in the pot is doing well under this light. Thats a minor yet definite improvement.
Some very modest assembly is required, namely putting the legs on. In case youre unsure, the instructions show and tell you how to do it.
And if you need to remove them, thats a piece of cake, too. The unit is big, and the lamp rotates freely, a full 360 degrees; you can angle this in any direction you need to. And you can alter the height, too, with the adjustable legs, and there are ample instructions for doing so. I note that there is no way to expand or narrow the footprint. You get the 21.5 span, and thats that. You cant move the legs in or out; this might be a cool design enhancement for a future iteration of this product. Maybe some kind of optional mounting system on the long side of the lamp, that goes with the existing legsThe power source is 110-240V, so you can use this thing just about anywhere. If you just want to hang it for the ultra-cool professional indoor horticulturist look, the set comes with a pre-made four-point sling for exactly that purpose, completely with braided metal cables and S-hooks tied to a central carabiner.
All you have to do is hang your cord and connect the hooks to the pre-set spots on the lamp, and youre in business. You even get a little resealable plastic bag to keep this hanging rig in. But, where is the on/off switch?
How could this lamp not have an on/off switch? You literally have to plug it in and then unplug it each time you want to use it. I just cant understand why this thing doesnt have a power switch.
The unit does not get hot to the touch, which is very good. Documentation: It comes with a shiny black-and-white four-panel guide printed on a sideways 8 ½ x 11 piece of paper. The text is excellent, very well rendered, with no ridiculous Chinglish. There are ample diagrams/photos, which are very clear and are very well annotated.
There are lots of warnings and safety instructions. That seems an awful lot, but then I have to remember the LED light array. So I guess its accurate. I just cant fathom the design decision not to put an on/off switch on this product.
Bottom line: This is a large and professional grow light system, with a number of cool options for putting it into use. It is easy to configure and does in fact work, but I still cant understand why it doesnt have an on/off switch. Very bright - 34500 Lux.
Light system comes with hanging kits. Simply insert hooks into each opening at corner of light hood. This hanging kit adds additional 11 to 12 inch - I expect shorter than 11 inch, but it is not adjustable. That's why I give 4 star, instead of 5. I placed a digital Lux Meter 6 inch under the light, to test the brightness. 34500 lux - at the center- 24000 lux - either right or left sideThe system produces very bright light - similar to T5.
I was gifted one of the traditional Aerogardens and it just wasn't my thing. But THIS is more my speed! So easy to set up and I can grow whatever I want using whatever medium I choose! This is now my seed starting light! No switches, so pretty a basic grow light. This is a pretty basic, simple grow light. The LED light panel is 9' by 21' and uses 45 watts. They say it works over a standard sized seed starting tray and estimate that the light should last up to 50,000 hours. You plug it into the power socket to turn on the light and pull the plug to turn it off.
There's no on/off switch. They state that the light is 2.6 lbs and that seems about right. They included a hanger system or stand legs. For the hanger, you slide hooks through slots in the four corners and attach the carabiner at the center to a hook or whatever you're going to hang the light from. The top of the light to the top of the carabiner is 10', so the hook you attach the carabiner to needs to be only 10' above where you want the light to hang. I've tried inserting the hooks, and that's easy to do. I have nothing close enough to my plants to hang it from, though, so I haven't tested that. It's light-weight enough that the light might sway a little in a breeze. You can also slide the light onto notches in the top of the stand legs, which is fairly easy. The legs wobble when you're touching them or the light, but they're steady when just holding the light above the plants. You can easily raise the legs as the plants grow (just squeeze a button that's sticking out of the leg and hold it down while you pull the light up on that side). I measured the legs as adjustable between 10.5' to 16.25' as measured from the bottom of the light (when horizontal) and the table top. I've only just started using the light, so I don't know how well the plants will like this light, but I imagine it'll work fine. It puts off a good amount of light and has red, blue, and daylight white LED lights. Most of the lights are the daylight white, and all of the lights are on--you can't pick just the blue, for example. It's all or nothing. Exactly what I have been hoping for. OMG, this is exactly what I've been hoping for!
I have 2 AeroGardens and I've been growing plants indoors for over 10 years now with them. The latest one has the new, LED grow lights and I have found them to be far superior to the original, conventional grow light bulbs. My AeroGardens are always bountiful and I have no issues with bugs or squirrels eating my plants. However, I have a large family and we adore tomatoes and cucumbers. While you can grow cherry tomatoes in an AeroGarden, because they get tall and the plants spread out, you can't grow many plants at one time. And cukes spread out too much to be feasible with an AeroGarden.
Sooo, I've been left with trying to grow them outside and the squirrels and raccoons and other wildlife, as well as the bugs and the heat, have always gotten the bulk of my harvests. This is the AeroGarden LED grow light panel without the hydroponic garden and it allows you to grow produce and flowers and plants conventionally but indoors - away from natural sunlight! You get the grow light panel and two, telescoping legs that attach to form a base for the light panel. All you need to do is place your plants or your seed starter tray underneath the light panel and make sure to keep the lights on at least 16 hours a day. You'll need to water and feed your plants as usual but the light panel does the rest. You can also use it for hanging plants because the light panel rotates 360 degrees so you can direct the lights exactly where you need them. Even better, when your plants (like tomato plants) get really tall, you can remove the legs from the light panel and use the included hanging kit to suspend the light panel above your plants!
The light panel is big - 21' x 9' with a 21.5' x 10' grow area. The light panel uses only 45 watts of energy and is rated for 30,000 hours of use.The stand goes from 10.4' to 16.3' in height. The light panel and stand together weigh only 3.8 pounds so it is manageable for anyone. You have to unplug it and plug it back in to turn it on and off. However, you can leave it on all the time if you wish and your plants will just grow faster, as far as I know. UPDATE: After further research, certain plants like tomatoes need 6-8 hours of darkness per day, That leaves me needing to unplug the lights and then plug them in again every day. Timer Outlet, UNIFUN Infinite Cycle Programmable Plug-in Digital Countdown Timer Socket with Alarm, 3-prong for Appliances, Grow light, 15A/1800WAs soon as I got this, I set a seed starter kit under the light panel and assigned my son to water and today, my son found every single one of the seeds have germinated! Some have sprouted a little more than others but every one came up! My son was so excited about this. For that reason, I suggest adult supervision when young children are growing things. I also have mine backed up against a wall because I'm not sure how cat proof it will be. If you have a cat or a child who is determined to mess with it, you might consider just using the hanging mount. I will update this review when I start growing tomatoes.
